THE HONEST TRUTH ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY ...

Some mornings bird photography is pure comedy. You drag yourself out of bed before sunrise… coffee barely doing its job … camera ready … and the birds? They apparently had a staff meeting and decided not to move.

But just when I was about to call it a quiet morning, this Great Egret lifted into the pastel sky!

Not a bad consolation prize for an early alarm.

HI, I AM BO …

I came to photography the way most good things find you — sideways, unexpectedly, and at exactly the right moment.

It started on a football field. My son was playing, and I had a film camera in my hands and a mother's stubborn determination to capture every play, every look, every moment of pride. That was my first real teacher — love with a lens.

After a few years away, digital cameras came along and pulled me back in. My first: a Canon Rebel. Then travel happened. I landed on the Emerald Isle of Ireland — a magical trip that changed everything. Standing on those ancient landscapes with a Canon EOS 5 Mark II in hand, I understood for the first time what it meant to see with a camera, not just point one.

Today I shoot with Miss Focus — my Canon R5 II, who is brilliant, capricious, and occasionally decides focus is optional. We have an understanding. 😄

WHERE I CAME FROM …

I was born in Poland and escaped communist Poland in 1981 — choosing freedom, choosing America, choosing a life built on curiosity and courage. That sense of wonder I carried across the ocean never left me. It just eventually found its way into a viewfinder.

Oklahoma became home, and what a home it is. Most people overlook it. I can't stop photographing it.

WHY I DO THIS …

Nature is where I recharge. Grounding gives me strength. Birds singing and playing feed my soul. Discovering new places — whether across the big pond or right here in my own backyard — brings me the kind of joy that doesn't wear off.

Photography lets me express my vision and share it with you. Small moments. Grand landscapes. Forgotten towns. A single egret deciding to show off at 6am.

Every road has a story. Every picture tells one. I'm just out here making sure neither gets forgotten.
